The 1%’s former sidekicks play weird games with the elite – and their secret sex code words

There isn’t shan in her game.

Charlotte Shane, a former sex worker who catered to the wealthy 1%, is speaking out about bedridden businessmen in a sordid new memoir.

The author’s daring “An Honest Woman: A Memoir of Love and Sex Work” hit shelves in August. 13, and details the scandalous lifestyle she lived for more than a decade, sleeping with elite men in hotels.

Before entering the escort industry, Shane was in a graduate program in women’s studies – but the beloved academic eventually decided to devote herself to men and her insatiable desires.

“I became a sex worker because I suspected and hoped it would be like this: a private, minor form of celebrity. An alternative version of myself”, says a fragment of her memoirs, published in The Wall Street Journal.

In the book, she reveals how rich men worked in the taboo business, chatting with women in luxury hotels and exchanging secret words.

“It helped that euphemisms caused by illegitimacy turned the dialogue into affection,” she wrote in thel-all tome. “‘Intrigued’ meant excited, ‘visit’ or ‘spend time with’ meant sex with, ‘friend’ meant repeat customer.”

Shane recalled the moment she interacted with a client named Roger, a 54-year-old litigator in Washington, DC Although the pair were scheduled to meet at a downtown Marriott at 9 p.m., Shane accidentally arrived 12 hours early at at 9 a.m., dressed in “conventional business attire,” wearing a tailored blue shift dress.

Although she hadn’t purposely planned to arrive so early, she purposely dressed in clothes that would allow her entry into the hotel and make her feel like she “deserved to be there”.

Roger agreed that Shane deserved more than to be there and “invited” him to meet again and again. After the third meeting, he began to pray for her presence.

“I have to say that every time I visit with you, I’m left wanting to see more of you,” Roger wrote after their third date.

Whenever a meeting went well, Shane made sure to send a thank-you note to the clients for the “great evening,” especially those he would like to see again.

All too often, Shane received admiring messages from “married men, single men, divorced men, men a few years or decades older than me, rich men and wealthy men and men living in secret, crushing debt.”

After years in the sex work industry, Shane decided it was time for her to retire because of the changes she wasn’t comfortable with.

“Sex workers these days, even personal workers without OnlyFans accounts, have to act as influencers to advertise and, to me, that brings out a lot, regardless of compensation,” she wrote in a blog entry Meant For You. posted on July 10.

Shane acknowledged that marketing has evolved since the early 2010s, when profiles included stock images, champagne and an about me section listing education majors and languages.

With other escorts adding ratings to their profile, this made Shane feel insecure about the skills she had to offer, questioning whether she would be able to pay as much as other sex workers.

Shane wrote that she was “too afraid of being caught in a lie to pretend otherwise.”

Shane says she believes her memoir “inspires her readers to love smarter, to love better,” she wrote in the Meant For You blog post.
