Award-winning producer Lisa Muskat lists ‘magical’ Catskills home for $1.97 million

Award-winning film producer Lisa Muskat, of “Beckett,” “Bones and All” and “Joe,” is listing her Catskills home for $1.97 million. Built on a mountain, the charming three-bedroom, three-bathroom home sits on 33.12 acres. It was built in 1920 in the Arts and Crafts style.

Muskat bought the home, at 5280 Cauterskill Road in Catskill, NY, for $660,000 in 2016.

At the time, Muskat told Gimme, she was “living and working in New York, and traveling up and down the Hudson River by train was such an easy trip to this magical place upstate.”

Now, however, she is spending a lot of time in Paris and, she said, “It is time to hand over this beautiful house to the next lucky person who will be its guardian.”

The house was originally built for Alleyne Ireland, a British writer who wrote about British tropical colonies and also worked as Joseph Pulitzer’s private secretary. Alleyne’s travels in Asia and close relationship with architect Frank Lloyd Wright inspired the home’s style, the agents said.

The land was also painted by Thomas Cole, founder of the Hudson River School of Art. Seventy years later, Steven Shadley, a 100AD designer whose clients include Jennifer Aniston, Diane Keaton, Robert Altman, Matthew Modine and Ryan Murphy, restored the house, stripping it down to its stone walls and fireplaces, then built it from the ground up. , according to the listing. Its touches include a roof made of zinc shipped from England.

The bungalow features a chef’s kitchen with a 10-person dining table, two large window seats and a wood-burning fireplace. There is also a second wood-burning fireplace in the living room and a master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom.

A third bedroom, plus another bathroom, is in a separate structure on a hill overlooking the main house accessed by a stone staircase to the “mossy grounds” where an original planter with a Japanese maple tree still stands.
